Cyber Begging

What is cyber begging or Cyber Beggling you say, well simply put it is begging or panhandling for money over the Internet. Now I know it sounds like I just made this up but really they even have websites to help you learn just how to do it, not only how to do it but do it effectively.

Honestly I came up with the idea of a Panhandling hub but I found some information on Cyber Begging and never knew it existed to that extent. Yet according to Wikipedia they even post the reasons they need or want to raise money from quote," Internet begging, cyber-begging, or internet panhandling is the online version of traditional begging, asking strangers for money to meet immediate and other needs (money, food, and shelter). Internet begging has the clear advantage to street panhandling in that it can be practiced with relative anonymity, thereby eliminating or reducing the shame and disgrace apparent of begging in public."

Honestly I guess you would just chalk this up to just another Internet scam, but I wondered are people doing this cyber panhandling and actually making money, well if you believe this web site I would say they are. As stated on DonateMoney2me, Quote "$20,000 in 20 weeks! A success story. A woman named was reported on CBS news that she raised over $20,000 in just 20 weeks! CBS News Story" Seriously, no really seriously? Well as I clicked on the link to read about the women on the CBS website I realized the link went to yet another page on this Donate Money 2 me web site now I am not saying this story didn't exist I am just saying that this link does not go to the story referenced as being on CBS.

Have we really become an cyber Panhandling nation, where people don't even have to waste their energy to go to the street corner with a cardboard sign anymore? Come on that is half the fun right? I really was shocked to know this has been so big online. Yes I knew of like spam, scams and the sites that try to get you to buy some Ocean front property in Arizona but now just flat out saying give me money because I need it. That just seems to wrong, wrong on top of wrong ya know. Am I alone in this thought I mean really, just really I am shocked.

Now I do give to charity don't get me wrong there are many very worthy causes out there such as:

St. Jude Children Research Hospital, Paralyzed Veterans and Feed the Children.

If you feel the need to give to help someone please consider one of these because they are doing wonderful work and always need help to keep helping others. Any amount you could give I am sure will help someone in desperate need.
